Predstavitev fotografa - Photographer's biography

Slovensko

Fotografije so izšle v različnih tiskanih in spletnih medijih.

Rok Dolničar is a photographer whose main interest is nature photography. Rok has adopted the cause of nature photography as the essence of public consciousness for natural habitats, often forgotten by human beings. He attended, by distance education, The New York Institute of Photography (2001 - 2003). Rok lives in Portorose in the Republic of Slovenia.

Rok started seriously practicing  photography in 2001, when he spent some time in the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park photographing its natural beauty. »They were open to me,« he says, »as much I was open to them.«

»Within Slovenia’s borders, nature photography is a real heaven. There are countless interesting geographic locations with an incredibly wide variety of plants, animals, rivers, lakes, and the Adriatic Sea. The more I move through Slovenia’s natural treasures, the more I become aware of the advantages of the short distances that are so important for the creation of a good photograph, which requires much time, effort and persistence.«

Rok has shown his work in various art exhibitions in the form of solo shows or collective exhibitions hosted in the Republic of Slovenia, as well as abroad. The photographs have been published in various print media and on the Internet. He collaborated on several photographic festivals and contests. His interest in photography caught the attention of the public, and he was invited to several interviews for the Slovene radio stations.

In summer 2011, Rok fortuitously captured a picture of the fin whale that appeared in the Gulf of Piran. The event was followed by the biggest Slovene commercial broadcast media POP TV, shown on the TV program 24ur, and later on the TV program Preverjeno: »Will the gas ferry terminal scare off the dolphins?«.
